Data from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali for the period between January-August 2023 and January-August 2024 shows a significant increase in foreign arrivals.

In 2023, during the same period, 3,641,896 foreign nationals arrived in Bali. In 2024, this number saw an increase of 22.62%, reaching 4,465,685 arrivals.

The number of foreign nationals departing from Bali during the same period was 4,481,939. This brings the total number of foreign passengers passing through Ngurah Rai Airport from January to August 2024 to 8,947,264.

In addition to Bali’s strong international appeal, Silmy noted that the ease of applying for visas through the online platform evisa.imigrasi.go.id is believed to be a contributing factor to the rising trend of foreign arrivals.

“We’ve made the application process as easy as shopping on a marketplace. This seamless experience for foreign nationals, I believe, is one of the key contributing factors,” said Silmy Karim, Director General of Immigration.

Silmy also highlighted another factor: Indonesia’s visa policies, which are tailored to accommodate the diverse activities of foreign nationals in the country. He emphasized that the high number of arrivals requires continuous improvement in digital-based services to support this growing trend.

“I see this as a positive trend. Our progress is improving, and I hope it continues to do so in the future. We aim to ensure that the foreign visitors entering Indonesia are of high quality, and we want to provide them with the best possible experience in the country,” said the Director General of Immigration.
